Come September 1st, some the best days for whitewater rafting still lie ahead. September and October offer warm water temperatures averaging in the 60's.
After this year's unusually hot Maine summer, temperatures should remain near 70 in early September. Kids have gone back to school and summer tourists back to work, resulting in a more relaxed, off-season atmosphere. Rafters get an extra dividend - viewing the foliage from the river-a unique way to watch the leaves change color. Fall colors reflecting off the water and rushing waterfalls provide spectacular photo ops. Wildlife is abundant.
Magic Falls offers discounted rates daily on the Kennebec River and special packages for the Kennebec high water turbine tests on September 11 and 25. There is a Dead River high water release on September 5, 18 and October 2. Magic Falls October 2nd
Dead River package includes its annual pig roast. National Geographic Adventure Magazine cited Magic's Annual Dead River Pig Roast Weekend as one of the best weekend getaways in the United States. Information on packages is available on line at www.magicfalls.com.
