Whitewater Rafting in Maine

Experience some of the best whitewater rafting in the New England area, right here in Maine! Whitewater rafting companies are numerous, particularly in The Forks area, where the Dead and Kennebec Rivers meet. Daily trips are run on the these rivers and also the Penobscot River. Maine is the only state in the northeast that can guarantee water levels for an extended season-from late April to mid-October due to controlled dam releases.

Registered Whitewater Guides are licensed by the State of Maine. All guides must have a specific number of trips down each river they work, know every rapid, emergency carry-out points, and all technical aspects of the river, with safety being the vital consideration on each trip. (The safety record of Maine commercial rafting companies is excellent.) Everything you need is provided by the outfitter, from vessels to helmets!
